It is said that opposites attract. However, few things seem more contradictory than boxing and yoga.

This fitness trend is perfect in that each practice complements the other, increasing the benefits and providing a complete workout.

We spoke with Laura Ihatsu a Yoga-Box instructor from Helsinki, Finland, about how this combination makes you physically and mentally stronger.

What is YOGA BOX?

Yoga-Box is a mix of boxing and yoga. You can embody both the fierceness of a fighter and the calm of a yogi in Yoga-Box. The class is divided into two parts: first, boxing and then Yoga.

You can embody both the fierce fire and calm of a warrior as well as the grounded peace of an aspiring yogi.

Boxing is a way to relax and release stress and tension from your body and mind, and build inner and outer strength. We will use traditional boxing techniques to tone our bodies and get in a good workout.

The yoga part is about slowing down and going within. You will feel calm and centered as you breathe and move through a simple, healthy yoga practice. We also use breathwork to achieve our goals during class. Breathwork can be calming or stimulating.

HOW COME YOU UP WITH THIS COMBINATION of BOXING AND YOGA?

Since 1995, I have been teaching martial arts. A good boxing class is a great way to feel confident and strong, and it also helps you get rid of stress and suppressed emotions.

It can be difficult to slow down until you have released more energy.

Six years ago, I discovered yoga and began to teach it. Many people were interested in yoga but struggled to slow down and be still. Our modern lives are filled with tension and inner restlessness as people spend so much time sitting down in front of screens. It can be difficult to slow down and let go of the extra energy.

My martial arts training taught me that boxing classes are calm and open, as people release their extra energy. These two practices were a great compliment because boxing classes are rarely able to relax at the end.

HOW DOES YOGA IMPROVE BOXING PRACTICES? VICE VERSA

These two practices are complementary in physical terms. They also share many similarities, believe it not. Both improve muscular endurance, strength, coordination, and oxygen utilization. However, they come from different angles. I believe that the more we can move in a variety of ways, the better our bodies will be and the less likely we will get hurt.

This combination is great because yoga does not have a cardio or high-intensity aspect so the heart rate stays the same. This aspect of boxing is added to the game so that you can strengthen your heart.

Although boxing does not typically require much mobility work or other recovery techniques such as meditation or breathwork, these elements are essential for good boxing performances.

BOXING YOGA CAN HELP YOU MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY STRONGEN.

Yoga-Box is a holistic exercise for the mind and body. Yoga-Box can improve your body’s strength, endurance, cardiovascular health, and oxygen utilization. It also helps you balance, balance, and agility.

WHY IS IT SO HELPFUL TO USE YOUR HEART RATE DURING WORKOUTS?

The Yoga-Box program is a great way to see how quickly your heart rate drops after a hard boxing workout. The intensity is gradually increased during the boxing portion. There’s one peak moment in the end when you can aim for your maximum heart rate. It is important to monitor your heart rate so you don’t push yourself too hard.

You will see a greater recovery rate as you continue to practice. It is also possible to track the impact on your sleep. Yoga-Box has been reported by many clients to have a greater quality of sleep at night.

Breathing is an excellent way to control the nervous system consciously. You can control your breathing and direct your heart rate to your will by learning how to control it. Breathwork can be done before a workout to increase your heart rate.

You should increase your exhale length if you want your body to go into a state of recovery. This can be done with serene(TM), a breathing exercise that you can do on your Polar watch. Your heart rate increases when you inhale and decreases when you exhale. Deep breathing is your best friend when life presents you with challenges.

HOW CAN THE HEART RATE DATA BE USED AFTERWARD

Yoga-Box can help you track the changes in your sleep quality over time. You can also monitor your resting beat. Yoga-Box increases your heart strength and decreases resting heart rate. This makes recovery faster and more efficient.
